Informational Video for Crappie Fishing in the Winter

Image
Informational Video for Crappie Fishing in the Winter The video embedded below is a video from Sam Sobi that was posted on his YouTube channel around a year ago. In this video, he talks about techniques but also just shows you how fun crappie fishing can be during the winter months. The video is also very useful because it describes how sometimes it is important to stay stationary when fishing for crappies in the winter. After all, they tend to swim in big schools at a relatively slow pace. When fishing for crappies a lot of people try to use the technique of staying mobile and drilling lots of holes to find the fish, but sometimes it can be greatly beneficial to let those fish come to you, and Sam's success in this video depicts that well. During the video, he can be seen catching a bunch of sunfish early on while the sun is still out, but the later into the day it gets, the better the fishing seems to be. Close to sunset Sam starts to catch some nice-sized crappie, and that just

Ice Fishing Walleyes

Image
Fishing Walleyes Through the Ice Minnesota Walleye fishing has always been a staple here in our great state because we are known for some of the best lakes to target walleyes, like Red Lake and Mille Lacs Lake. My favorite time for targeting walleye in Minnesota is through the ice. Around mid-December, I decide to usually take my first trip up to red lake for the year to start my ice fishing season. Around this time Red Lake has just got enough ice to use four-wheelers to get around so it makes it a lot easier to target these wonderful golden fish. My main tactic for fishing these walleyes through the ice is to use two rods, one as a dead stick with a rainbow minnow on it and the other jigging with a small spoon tipped with a minnow head. I have learned that throughout the years one day can be very different from the next when it comes to walleye fishing. One morning they will love the dead stick and won't hit your jigging line at all, but the next day it's possible that it'

Minnesota Fishing Blog Introduction

Getting to Know Me, and My Blog! My name is Joseph Reineccius, I am 20 years old and live in Minnesota. I have lived in Minnesota my entire life and like many Minnesotans took a big interest in the outdoors. It all started when I was younger, and my family would take a summer trip up to my grandparent's lake house for a week. That was when I fell in love with fishing. My grandfather would take me out every day and we would fish from sunup to sundown, some of my fondest memories are chasing fish during those summer weeks out on the lake with my grandpa. As I grew older, I became more and more obsessed with fishing. It didn't matter where I was or what time of year it was, I would always find some way to cast a line, one way or another. I'm creating this blog to talk about strategies for fishing in Minnesota's 10,000 lakes and also to share stories about some of the great fishing adventures I have had in the past. My hope with this blog is to give useful advice but also t
